Well here's a whole buncha news from the amazing stupendous Piltdown Man, the keeper of true geek knowledge in the land of movie stars and swimming pools. Hopefully we'll be receiving more and more news from the Piltdown Man, because he/used-to-be-she is reliable... trust me on this...
Fantastic Voyage is moving along in development without Devlin and Emmerich. (and after a certain unnamed Fox exec saw Godzilla last week, Fox seemed very happy about that fact). They are not yet sure who will write it the next draft. I'm sure you know Morgan & Wong of X-files wrote a draft which came after Teddy Tennabaum's. (Personally, I liked it). So let's just say it will probably be some time before FV sees the light of day. I'll try to keep you posted.
I was just on the set of Lethal Weapon 4 (a few weeks ago) and it was going smoothly and quickly. The movie was written at lightning speed by Channing Gibson and two other writers... all writing separate scripts at the same time! Unheard of in Hollywood! (This also happened on the new "I Know What You Did Last Summer" -- titled "I Still Know.") Channing Gibson's script won out, and the production was put into high gear to facilitate a summer space in Mel's sked. Three cameras were shooting at almost all times, and editors were editing as the movie was being filmed! All is running well and it will be released on sked on July 10th. I haven't read the script, but I hear it's funny. The action sequence at the very end of the finale pits Jet Li ALONE against Mel and Danny in a Los Angeles warehouse in the rain. The set was quite spectacular... and Mel and Danny were doing their own stunts (at least the day I was there).
In other Warner Brothers news, it looks as if Silver Pictures is very close to getting a green light for their version of Sgt. Rock. Could be interesting. (HARRY NOTE: I HAVE HEARD THAT ARNOLD IS INTERESTED AND THAT THIS IS TO BE DIRECTED BY THE DIRECTOR OF "U.S. MARSHALLS")
Again in Warner Brothers news... Bad word from the world of the "The Avengers." Rumor is that there is a lot of reshooting going on, and one exec said the movie wasn;t that great. Very sad for me, because I'm pumped about seeing it. But who knows... maybe the reshoots will save the day...
This news is a bit old, but I haven't seen it on your site, so... After an incredibly popular public screening at the Mann's Chinese attended by William Peter Blatty and William Friedkin, Warner Brothers is going to rerelease -- IN THEATERS -- the Exorcist, with... get this... never before seen footage. Very scary stuff, supposedly. Cut from the original only because it didn't advance the plot. Look for this end of 98, early 99.
