Got this e-mail from Bosshog today:
Well casting is well under way for Austin Powers III, and I noticed something interesting. New Line is currently looking for a midget under 3 ft. tall to play MINI-ME. Looks like Verne Troyer is not returning for the 3rd installment. i can only imagine it is a money issue, but that is just me speculating.

Yikes. Troyer’s out? Seems like it’s hardly worth the time of bringing the character back, then. Mini-Me isn’t a hysterical concept by itself. A big part of what made the bit work was the way Troyer and Myers played off each other. Sounds like it would be smarter to rewrite than to try and find someone to fill those very tiny shoes.
I went looking to see if anyone else on the net had heard this same rumor, and that’s when I read Zorianna Kit’s story over at the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, in which she revealed that Caine is playing Captain Hendricks, a security specialist in the Royal Navy.
Whatever that means. We know Mike Myers is playing the new villain, Goldmember, as well as Dr. Evil and Fat Bastard. Oh... and Austin, of course. Caine is a very funny man, and a bit of an icon as a gangster and a spy. Look at his work in the ‘60s and ‘70s. I hope Myers gives him more to do than Michael York does as Basil Exposition. Anything less would be a waste.
