Hey folks, Harry here with the latest from TORONTO on John Dahl's latest flick! With RED ROCK WEST and THE LAST SEDUCTION, Dahl won my undying interest in his career... He hasn't done anything to really grab me recently, but that doesn't mean he can't... because he sure as hell has in the past... Here's his next...
Hey Harry,
I just saw Joy Ride showing up here at the Toronto International Film Festival, and I thought it was a great film...
The humor was dead on, in many scenes and the suspense was definately keeping the audience on the edge...
It definately had me thinking a few times back to "The Deul," but that quickly faded...
The hospital scene really took me and everyone by complete surprise, as well as when the gang was coming down the stairs...
What I really liked about this movie was that the director didn't bombard us with loud noise (wether it was sound FX or music) to actually scare you.
The ending definately left me wanting... And the funny thing is, when my girlfriend and I went to the nearby parking lot to get her car... SHE JUMPED when we heard a truck nearby honk its horn...
What blew was, I got stuck for 45minutes waiting while the stars, Leelee, Paul, Steve and the director John Dahl showed up and did interviews at the door step of the theator...
I shook Steve Zahn's hand at the end of the show and asked him, how did it feel to do the nude scenes... He responded, "it was a stunt double." I think he was joking...
Well that's it...
